#NoFilter Series: 2030 Scenario — Surreal
Years ago, I read an article that mentioned that we might be able to clone our own bodies and be present in multiple places at once. It wouldn’t do much harm to be in the Maldives enjoying your vacation, while another version of you is attending a meeting, would it? We may not be there yet, but we do have technologies that let us attend meetings virtually using 3D avatars to represent ourselves.
If similar technologies advance further in the coming years, we could get closer to this ‘Surreal’ world, where it is hard to tell who’s real and who’s an avatar.
Digital identities > physical identities?
It’s 2030. Sipping your morning coffee, you look out onto the city through your bedroom window. It is calmer than it once was. There is much less traffic, and there aren’t many people hustling to get to work on time.
You lot into Instagram. It seems some of your friends were in Paris the other day; they’ve uploaded photos of themselves with the Eiffel Tower in the background. You’re surprised they didn’t mention their trip when you saw them just a few days ago.
As you scroll through the feed, you come across a photo of a young supermodel. You don’t recognize her. You really like her looks and style, and she seems to be a social activist as well. You Google her name to know more…
