In January, I was invited to talk on Applying Futures Thinking Podcast, a show by Using Foresight to discuss how I apply Futures Thinking in my strategy practice. The podcast is a recap of the Instagram Live I took part in with Victor, the Founder. Here are some insights from the podcast.

How I got into Futures Thinking / Foresight

Victor asked me about my background in foresight and where I learned it. I have always been interested in the ways that ‘things’ (design) impacted people, and formalized this interest in pursuing a Master of Design in Strategic Foresight and Innovation.

I explained to Victor that my first time applying Futures Thinking in the real world was when I got to explore the future of banking for an insurance company, to see if it was a viable business for them to get into. I would create future-focused workshops where we would do some trend scanning and identify opportunities and assess risks of various future scenarios.
